FAQ

What happens in the first session?

1

The first session is a chance to get to know each other and to see if I am the right fit for you. You don’t have to worry about filling out paperwork or feel like you’re being interrogated. I like to get an understanding of your concerns and your history over a few sessions as we work together.

How many sessions will I need?

2

It can really vary. Some find a few sessions are helpful to work through something specific, while others prefer long-term work to explore deeper patterns. We will continually review our work together, and you are free to stop whenever you feel like it.

Why does the fee matter in therapy?

3

A fee is a part of what keeps therapy a dedicated and reliable space for people. The fee supports the things that keep the work safe and dependable, such as a suitable room, regular supervision, ongoing training, and professional membership. If cost is a concern, please raise it with me, and we can talk it through openly.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

4

Life is unpredictable and gets in the way, and I get that. I ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less notice are charged at the full fee, except in some specific circumstances which can be discussed together.

What if I find it hard to talk, or I get upset in a session?

5

That’s very common, and it’s okay. There’s no pressure to speak about what brings you to therapy straight away. Therapy is a place for you to discuss freely anything that comes to your mind. And silence or tears are both welcome here. We can go slowly, take pauses, and I’ll check in with you throughout.

What if we don’t feel like the right fit?

6

The relationship matters a great deal in therapy, so it’s worth taking the time to see whether it feels right. If it doesn’t, you can tell me, and we’ll talk it through. If it would help you to work with someone else, I will do my very best to point you in the direction of someone that might be a better fit.
